Ford Issues Recall For Trucks

Ford has issued a major safety recall for nearly 4.4 million vehicles in the U.S. because of a software defect affecting the Integrated Trailer Module (ITRM), which can disable trailer lights and, in some cases, trailer brakes.

The recall, which was issued via a notice through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), affects models of Ford pickups and SUVs.

“These conditions result in a noncompliance with federal safety standards and can reduce a driver’s ability to control an attached trailer while making it less visible to other drivers,” Ford said in a statement, Bloomberg reported, adding that it is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires related to the issue.
